Hope Reins Travel Truck

Our Hope Reins program is currently in desperate need of an equipment truck capable of transporting our children, their horses, and their equipment to shows, competitions, and events. Due to the size of our horses and our wonderful trailer, the truck must be capable of pulling 12,000 lbs and have the ability to safely carry 4-5 of our children. As an added benefit, this truck could also be used to help with tons of other campus needs for Palmer Home children and staff.

Palmer Home’s Hope Reins riding program encourages mental and physical development of individuals through equine-assisted activities, promoting the faith and love of Christ through horses. Horses can sense a person’s strengths and weaknesses, and even disabilities that a person might have. Because of this sixth sense, interaction with our horses helps our children overcome fears, build self-esteem, stimulate intellectual function, and inspire confidence.

From a physical standpoint, a riding program can increase mobility, posture, and balance. From a spiritual and emotional standpoint, the program helps to stimulate compassion and responsibility in Palmer Home children, linking the bond with horses to the ever-present love of Christ.

Our goal of $8,000 represents roughly half the cost of what we need to purchase a truck.  If we exceed our goal here, that will bring us even closer to the total amount needed.

Help us reach our goal of raising $8,000 to help off-set the cost of a used truck with all of the features we need!

$12

Stable Hand

The stables at Palmer Home for Children are home to 12 horses, who receive love and attention from our children on a daily basis.

$24

Groomer

Grooming our horses takes time, but it's a favorite activity of our children. With our largest horse measuring a massive 16 hands tall and our smallest coming in at just 8 hands, there's room for even the smallest of our residents to participate in this fun bonding activity.

$42

Equestrian

Every week, 42 Palmer Home children participate in our Hope Reigns program, offering them a chance to learn valuable life skills, bond with the horses, and boost their self-esteem.

$60

Trainer

Each student involved in Hope Reins spends a minimum of 60 minutes per week taking lessons and learning to care for our horses. Many students choose to spend their free time volunteering at the stables because they enjoy it so much.

$100

Trailblazer

Our horseback riding team can travel as far as 100 miles away for competitions and shows where they have the opportunity to demonstrate all the skills they're developing and learn from other equestrians.

$350

Blue-Ribbon Winner

This represents the average cost for one child to attend and participate in a horse show. We have quite a few students who are accomplished enough to travel to various shows. It's a wonderful opportunity for them to gain experience and even potentially secure scholarships for their future.
